The IFC Global Health Quality Advisory Program Phase II aims to support medical facilities in emerging markets in quality/patient safety improvement through targeted advisory engagements. The Program has three components: COMPONENT 1: ADVISORY WORK TO ACHIEVE QUALITY IMPROVEMENTS IN HEALTHCARE FACILITIES. The Program provides advisory services to healthcare facilities to enhance their quality assurance processes and practices and ensure that assessed medical facilities develop and follow quality improvement plans, carry out recommended activities and actions and embed quality culture in their daily operations. Several types of advisory engagements with varying depth may be offered; they may include follow-up coaching and progress reviews in its work with clients: rapid quality assessments, full and specialized quality assessments, hospital layout design reviews, tailored/in-depth implementation support, group coaching. The Program team keeps innovating and modifying its advisory offerings based on the demand from its clients and the lessons learned in client engagements. The Program may collaborate with IBRD in select target countries where it will work with both private and public healthcare facilities to assess how the system level quality assurance governance (system of national standards, accreditation, etc.) is implemented on facility level. IFC may also work with leading private healthcare service providers that are willing to become role models for their market and agree to disseminate information on their quality improvement work and engage with other local medical institutions through a country-based community of practice that focuses on healthcare quality. COMPONENT 2: ENHANCING KNOWLEDGE BASE AND AWARENESS OF HEALTHCARE QUALITY AND PATIENT SAFETY PRACTICES BY SECTOR STAKEHOLDERS. The focus of Component 2 will be on raising awareness and knowledge of quality assurance processes, the requirements and the tools in healthcare providers and other stakeholders. The activities of Component 2 will include creation of self-paced online trainings, public webinars and trainings, administration of healthcare quality community of practice. The Program may select target countries where the capacity of quality managers needs strengthening country-wide and where investment potential is aligned with the WBG priorities for development and conduct capacity building training programs for quality managers from local healthcare facilities. COMPONENT 3 . STRENGTHENING CAPACITY IN PRIVATE EQUITY FUNDS TO IDENTIFY AND MITIGATE HEALTH QUALITY RELATED RISKS IN THE INVESTEE COMPANIES. The Program expects to provide support to PE funds in evaluation of health quality risks and in identification and mitigation of ethical and patient safety risks in health services investees.
