Project Description

The SDP consists of several components that work together to facilitate linkages of MNEs with local supplier SMEs. Each component addresses the challenges local companies in Mexico face in integrating into the value chains of MNE located in the country. The components are as follows: Component 1. - Identification of specific intermediate products and services, as well as quality standards required by MNEs in strategic sectors or GVCs. The identification, engagement and information of MNEs represents a critical phase which differentiates this demand-driven program from similar initiatives that only focus on improving general suppliers’ capabilities without a clear target market. Component 2. - Identification of a group of SMEs that have the potential to fulfill MNE’s input demands. - Assessment of the capacities of potential providers based on international best practices and performance standards. - Improving capabilities of selected SMEs with the highest potential to integrate into MNEs’ supply chains, by offering specialized training to improve capacities, tailored consulting services, and workshops on access to finance. Component 3. - Encourage successful matches between MNEs and SMEs through B2B events. Once the selected suppliers end the capacity development program, networking events will be organized so that potential suppliers present their progress and demonstrate their level of preparation to MNE. Ultimately, the project directly aims to address the structural disconnect between domestic SMEs and MNEs, by promoting the creation of real market opportunities through a demand-driven approach. By fostering commercially viable, sustainable linkages and enhancing SME competitiveness, this innovative model contributes to inclusive economic growth.
