Project Description
The IFC, in collaboration with Aavishkaar Group, is undertaking a project to bolster technological integration in smallholder agroforestry projects across India. The initiative aims to address the inefficiencies and high operational costs faced by smallholder farmers due to limited technology use and manual information management. By developing advanced digital solutions, the project will streamline data flow and automate information collection, thereby improving the accuracy and efficiency of project management. A key component of this initiative is the creation of a comprehensive project information management system that offers user-friendly interfaces for better planning, management, and monitoring of agroforestry activities. This system will integrate various modules, including project planning, farmer profiling, and real-time activity monitoring, to ensure seamless project execution and management.
Additionally, the project will develop a robust carbon estimation model and Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) system, utilizing AI-driven geospatial models to enhance the accuracy of carbon assessment and monitoring. This technology will incorporate geospatial data, satellite imagery, IoT data, and weather information to provide precise carbon quantification across diverse vegetation types. The integration of these systems is expected to significantly improve the socio-economic impacts for smallholder farmers, enhance food security, and support carbon mitigation efforts. By leveraging these advanced digital solutions, the project aims to drive sustainability and scalability in the agroforestry sector, with potential applicability to other nature-based and community-based projects.
