Project Description
There are gender gaps throughout the Vietnamese economy, most notably in the quality of women's jobs and the levels of leadership they attain. These gender gaps present challenges to firms in high-growth sectors such as garment and footwear, where employers need more and better-skilled workers to capture growth potential. By not hiring, retaining, or promoting women proportionately to men, they are missing out on the business benefits of gender-balanced workforces.
This project, "Empowering Enterprises to Reach Gender Equality in Manufacturing Supply Chains," supports firms to improve workplace policies and practices, which is to improve women's representation in leadership and the quality of jobs for women in the manufacturing sector. To achieve its objective, the project is structured with three components: (i) Market-level interventions on building a gender-diverse workforce and leadership; (ii) Market-level interventions on respectful workplaces; and (iii) Customized gender advisory with individual clients to close gender gaps.
