Project Description
IFC will support the Government of India to structure and tender a public-private partnership (PPP) to rehabilitate upto five existing BEST bus depots and two stations in the city of Mumbai, which are currently operated by Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport Undertaking (BEST), into modern, inclusive, climate-smart facilities with commercial development.
Development Results
The successful implementation of the Project will address the need for enhanced bus parking capacity while modernizing the old bus depots and stations. It will improve the amenities, hygiene, safety, and level of service for passengers and crew at each location and enable safe and secure transport for women and persons with disability through improved lighting, accessibility, and security measures. The project will also include climate-smart features that enhance energy efficiency, use of recyclable materials, and waste management.
