Project Description
The TechEmerge Sustainable Cooling Initiative (TE-SCI) will support field testing and validation of technologies and business models (i.e., solutions from Grantees) with established corporates (i.e., Adopters), in cooling-intensive sectors such as built environments and data centers, industrial processes, and temperature-controlled logistics. In addition to deploying the TechEmerge process of assessing client needs, calling for technologies, curating, matching, piloting and scaling, this project will also entail market mapping and knowledge-sharing activities that help accelerate the identification of demand centers and relevant cooling technologies to decidedly shift away from unsustainable BAU scenarios.
This Project will be undertaken with an anchor Adopter, Tabreed India Private Limited (“Tabreed”), who are the world’s largest listed district cooling utility, and provider over 1.3 million TR to clients spread across multiple geographies. In collaboration with Tabreed, IFC will provide catalytic grant funding to accelerate the testing and validation of a suite of sustainable cooling solutions across use cases and industries, with potential for Tabreed and other Adopters to create new CaaS business models in India and beyond.
