Project Description
IFC will advise the Urban Development Agency (“UDA”) and Municipality of Ulaanbaatar ("MUB") senior officials on existing urban data management practices and procedures to support improvements to an open-source data management system, build capacity of staff on data analytics, and organize user engagement activity to promote awareness and use of open data for urban planning.
Development Results
The Project is part of IFC's broader strategy to boost sustainable economic growth and climate resilience in Mongolia. It will help improve Urban Development Agency’s data accessibility to citizens in a sustainable and inclusive way, and Municipality of Ulaanbaatar's capacity to manage, share with the public, and use for decision-making the city’s urban digital data assets.

PS 1. Assessment and Management of Environmental and Social Risks and Impacts
As part of its Due Diligence, and as mandated by IFC Sustainability Policy, IFC team will screen the project to assess consistency with IFC's Performance Standards. Based on sector and context specific risks, the project has the potential for E&S risks and/or impacts in relation to environmental and social management systems (PS 1). Environment and social risks will be further reviewed throughout the life-cycle of the project.
IFC advice will be provided in a manner consistent with the principles of the relevant Performance Standards. The IFC team will assist the client in gaining a good understanding of IFC's Performance Standards, and provide recommendations for appropriate mitigation measures whenever warranted.
