Project Description
Global Food Safety and Food Loss Prevention Advisory Project 2.0 aims to enhance food safety and reduce food loss and waste through two key objectives. First, providing firm-level advisory support to agribusinesses, retailers, and their suppliers, to enhance operational efficiency, lower risks and costs, minimize environmental impact, boost sales, and expand access to finance. Second, strengthening the sector’s enabling environment by building regulator capacity in line with international best practices on food safety and food loss and waste reduction, by developing learning and thought leadership materials across the World Bank Group and with key global stakeholders. Additionally, the project also seeks to close gender gaps in value chains by promoting skills and capacity building for all stakeholders.
Led by IFC, the project is being implemented in partnership with the Government of Canada through the Facility for Resilient Food Systems (FRFS), the Facility for Investment Climate Advisory Services (FIAS) and the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP).
