Finvivir is a Mexican MFI with a loan portfolio of US$ 70 million and 540,000 active clients in Latin America. The MFI has recently started expanding its services outside of Mexico, and it now has operations in Peru and Colombia. Finvivir is interested in exploring opportunities in other regions such as Africa and Asia. The client approached IFC to conduct a feasibility study for a potential expansion to Asia. The feasibility study aims to provide relevant strategic and technical analysis to Finvivir on the Asian microfinance market. In particular, the project aims to: i. Provide an overview of the Asian microfinance market and opportunities including market size, market segments, competitor analysis and applicable regulatory guidelines; ii. Focus on the microfinance opportunities in two Asian countries (to be mutually identified by Finvivir and IFC) including market size, key players, DFS considerations, profile of potential clients and potential local partners; iii. Pinpoint potential operating partners for Finvivir to support its entry into one of the two selected Asian countries; iv. Outline the potential costs for starting operations in key countries including minimum capital requirements to consider. IFC’s specialization in financial services, its extensive network in the Asia-Pacific region and its local expertise in key markets will enable it to provide relevant strategic and technical recommendations to the client in its expansion drive. By the end of the feasibility study, Finvivir will be equipped with data and analysis on market sizing, microfinance segments, competitor analysis, key trends and opportunities and recommendations which will inform the client's decision-making regarding its expansion drive in Asia.
