Project Description
IFC has been mandated by the State Government of Minas Gerais, through its state-owned development company CODEMGE, to structure and implement a competitive tender process for water and sewage concession(s) encompassing 96 municipalities in the northeast of the state, which are currently largely under the concession area of the state-owned utility COPASA or its subsidiary COPANOR.
Development Results
This project aims to expand the coverage of water provision and sewage collection and treatment services in the state of Minas Gerais, in line with Brazil´s goal to achieve universalization of access to water and sanitation by 2033. The project is expected to support the social and economic development of the region by improving the quality of life and health outcomes for its population and helping promote broader economic activities and job creation.
