Project Description
IFC, in partnership with the Government of Spain through the Spain - IFC Technical Assistance Trust Fund (TATF), has created this initiative to serve as a support mechanism for the development of transport related projects in developing countries through Unsolicited Proposals, that is, those conceptualized by the private sector instead of the traditional public ones. To do so, IFC will finance feasibility studies and will support the proponent companies along the process from the inception of the idea until its completion and presentation to the competent Authority.
In order to generate a pipeline of proposals, IFC will:
- Establish strategic partnerships with selected global sponsors through the global team, and
- Identify consultants and local sponsors with limited development capabilities, to whom IFC may add significant value. This will require regional teams to be aware of local reputable sponsors with successful experience in building and/or operating transport infrastructure and who are interested in presenting Unsolicited Proposals.
Experienced consultants will be used to prepare the feasibility studies to international standards and identify the main potential technical, economic, environmental and/or social issues. Technical evaluation and supervision of proposals and feasibility studies will be direct responsibility of IFC industry specialists.
