Project Description
The objective of the project is to structure a public-private partnership (PPP) for the completions of three regional referral labs, recently renovated but not fully operational, in order to improve access to quality lab services in Sierra Leone. The labs will be located around Freetown, Bo and Makeni providing coverage to over 40% of the population. The Project will therefore involve IFC advisory assistance to the Ministry of Health of Sierra Leone to develop a bankable structure that would attract private sector players to develop the three regional labs under a PPP arrangement. The regional labs will perform all lab tests currently outlined in the Basic Package of Essential Health Services. In addition, these labs will provide support to all primary health facility in the respective catchment areas at districts level. It is also expected that the PPP labs will provide training to other public labs staff, especially for lab staff working in primary health.
