Description & Potential Impact
Mitigation
PS 3. Resource Efficiency and Pollution Prevention
Despite the focus of the project on reducing energy losses and associated pollution, non-adherence to the proposed recommendations may adversely affect the positive impacts of the measures recommended by IFC, and implemented by KPLC.
Project activities are aimed at improving efficiency and at minimizing the negative environmental footprint and impacts. The project team will work with E&S teams to make sure that proposed measures are aligned with KPLC's E&S needs and consider IFC performance standards. Monitoring frameworks will be developed and included in the legal documents with KPLC.
PS 1. Assessment and Management of Environmental and Social Risks and Impacts
ESMS needs to be reviewed to ensure compliance with PS1.
As part of its Due Diligence, and as mandated by IFC's Sustainability Policy, the IFC team will screen this project to assess consistency with IFC's Performance Standards. The principles of the relevant Performance Standards will be applied to the project's design. Environmental and social risks will continue to be reviewed throughout the life cycle of the project.
