Project Description
L-MIRA Ethiopia will focus on the following four project components:
1. Improve access to quality veterinary drugs and vaccines. The L-MIRA project will partner with the VVDFCA to improve operations related to animal drug and vaccine import and quality control.
2. Improving the accessibility and the quality of Animal Health Services. Improving health services is one of the critical investment areas identified by the livestock master plan and livestock farmers because of its positive impact on lowering animal mortality and improving the animal productivity. The L-MIRA project will support increased participation of the private sector in the provision of animal health services and support the Ethiopian Veterinary Association in the establishment of a vet. Certification system.
3. Development of national breeding policy. The project will support the MLFD in development of the breeding policys implementing strategy and regulations.
4. Knowledge Management and Advocacy. The L-MIRE project seeks to catalyze learning and constructive discussion on sector development through introduction to international good practice in dairy and poultry value chain development and public private dialogue in support of policy review and private sector advocacy.
