Project Description
IFC will support the Privatisation Commission of the Government of Pakistan for the privatization of Gujranwala Electric Power Company. The aim is to improve people's access to reliable electricity distribution.
Development Results
By introducing private sector management in the electricity distribution business, the region's industrial/commercial and domestic consumers will gain better access to power and receive more reliable customer service. This will help develop the region's industrial base and consequently have a positive economic impact for the people and government of Pakistan.

As part of its Due Diligence, and as mandated by IFC's Sustainability Policy, IFC team will screen this project to assess consistency with IFC's Performance Standards.

The IFC team will assist the client, as the final decision maker, in gaining a good understanding of IFC's Performance Standards. An update on the mitigation measures will be provided when the project has been awarded and the relevant contracts have been signed
